Throw Back Thursday | Seattle Senior Photographer

Just started out your photography business? Feel like you have the vision in your head, but is not translating into your work? Feel like you’ll just NEVER get there? This post is for you.

We all feel like we don’t know what we’re doing & that we’ll never get where we want to be. But with hard work & perseverance, you will get there. I’m about to share with you some old & TOTALLY embarrassing images from from my very first photo-shoots ever. No they were not paid. No I did not know what I was doing. You better believe I had my D5000 with the kit lens firing away on Auto (or sometimes in manual, but without adjusting the settings AT ALL? Oopsie.) But I was learning. I got my first camera in 2009 and since then I have been a woman obsessed. It’s weird that it still hasn’t gotten old, isn’t it? I feel like I have come so far with my skill, but I’m only barely scratching the surface of what I am capable of creatively and professionally.

You’ve got to be hungry for it and you’ve got to love it. Your work may not be where you want it to be, but we all start out somewhere. And most of us start out absolutely SUCKING. I know I did. I don’t know if I’ll be doing any more TBT posts in the future, but I will be trying my best to share with everyone how I got from A-B. Most of the journey was just practice, hard work and trial & error.

Without further stalling, here are some photos from my very earliest sessions compared to some of my more recent work: then-and-now-seattle-wedding-photographer

Wow, right? Now I’m daydreaming about my 2018 comparison! Keep with it, kids! & practice, practice, practice!
