I think there is nothing that makes a home more welcoming & “homey” than the happy smiling faces of it’s inhabitants proudly displayed on the walls. There are so many unique & cute ways to do it, too! Today I’m going to share with you some of my favorite displays from around the interweb! I’m also going to share a few simple tips & tricks on how to achieve a similar look in your casa! Hopefully after this little post you’ll be equipped with the tools to get your own house looking like it popped straight out of the pages of Better Homes & Gardens or Martha Stewart Living. So hold on to your photo lovin’ keister, because you’re in for a treat! But maybe let go long enough to jot down a note or two.
Wall Galleries
I am quite smitten by a good gallery wall. I really don’t think you can go wrong here. You can have uniform m
atching frames (I love white ones right now, but any color would do) Or you can mix different frames for a more layered, assembled over time feel. I like mixing vintage with new & wooden with finished. To create a really dynamic look, mix up wide angled photos with detail photos. Like a zoomed out photo of you & your sweetie & a close up of a flower growing in said field. Make sense? Your handy dandy photographer (Especially one from Hello Sweetheart Portraiture ;);) is sure to hook you up with tons to choose from! A few things to keep in mind:
First- I think it is important to decide whether you want color or B&W photos & then stick to one or the other. That’s just personal preference, though. I’ve noticed through my own trial & error that while it’s fun to mix it up in other areas, like sizes & frame style, mixing up color with b&w just looks weird.
Second- BALANCE is so important. Make sure you have your display perfectly charted out before you make any holes in your wall. The best way to do that is to lay out all of your frames & trace & cut out their shape over some old christmas wrapping paper. arrange the paper squares on the wall where you’d like your pictures to hang. That way if something looks off, you’re not committed to it. You can just retape it an inch to the left or right.
Third- Some of my favorite wall galleries have photography & art mixed in. So don’t limit yourself to JUST photos. It’s so fun to play around with other peices. Like a small oil paintings or maybe a wooden initial or a round decorative mirror.
Now that we’ve got some of the basics out of the way, here are a few more inspirational gallery wall photos from the almighty Pinterest.

Large framed photo display!
This would be wicked-KILLER for your favorite instagram photos. I’m even considering
doing this in my house. I LOVE the way it is casually leaning against the wall instead of hanging. The contrasting colorful images on a bright white background gets me all kinds of hot & bothered. Love it. To get extra bomb.com, I’d swap out that black frame for a crisp, white frame. Holy moly. Cuteness to the max. To get this done inexpensively, I’d probably just take it down to Michael’s Arts & Crafts when they have a 60% off custom framing sale. There you have it, totally custom statement piece of art for your home out of something as simple as your phone snap shots!
The Clothes Line
Another gorgeous idea that I’ve seen quite a few times on pinterest is “the photo clothes line”. This is the cutest idea people! Basically you have some smaller gift print sized photos printed & hang them ob a clothes line! I’d definitely suggest having these mounted so they don’t curl up though. So adorable, I can’t even contain myself. I’m half tempted to just line my entire house with photo clothes line. Just kidding. Sort of.

Hopefully that was so helpful your brains turned into rainbow spaghetti laced with princess fairy sparkles. If you’d like to track down any of the stuff I posted, you can find it on my pinterest in the photo displays board! 😀
