There is nothing more flattering than another talented photographer presenting me with the opportunity to photograph them! Last weekend I did just that! I photographed my internet-buddy, Amanda Capps (Amanda Star Photography) while she was visiting LA from Florida for business with her hubby! To make the situation even more fabulous, our location happened to be one of my bucket-list shoot locations! Santa Monica Pier!
Amanda & Mark are parents of five kids, whom they home school. When they’re not shaping young minds into future senators & doctors, they run a full time photography studio. Once you meet these two, it quickly becomes clear how they do it. Energetic and positive & clearly in love like a couple of teenagers; it seems that together they can conquer anything.
The hours leading up to our photo session, we really needed that “positivity conquers all” attitude, because the forces of the universe were not working in our favor. Our salon we were planning on visiting for hair & makeup had packed up & moved to Ohio! Last minute was a bit of a scramble trying to track down MAC & Fred Segal, but we were chatting & laughing the entire time. Eventually it all worked out because Amanda looked freakin’ gorgeous after hair & makeup. Her deep red hair done up in a subtle vintage style & her turquoise eyes popped against a ruby lip & winged eyeliner.
These two were such a blast to photograph. They took direction very well and were definitely naturals in front of the camera, which is pretty surprising considering their life’s work takes place BEHIND the camera. I had too many shots to choose from at the end!
Now I just need to save up some cheddar & visit the Capps in Florida for a chance to be a model for a day ;)Family sesh at The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter = DREAM come true.
